Project Summary

Altstadt Hotel Passau stands where Passau tells its story best — on the banks of the Danube, in the heart of the historic Old Town, where heritage, architecture and the confluence of the three rivers shape every stay. Every room offers its own character, creating an experience built on discovery rather than repetition.

The identity I created is inspired by that journey. A Baroque window, one of Passau's most recognizable architectural features, becomes a portal that invites guests to step into the hotel's world. Inside, the flowing geometry references the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz, while the rising sun symbolizes the warmth of Bavarian hospitality and the beginning of every day. The bold outer frame reflects the city's historic foundations, contrasted by a refined interior that mirrors the hotel's contemporary comfort and timeless elegance.

This wasn't about creating a logo for a hotel. It was about designing a symbol that feels as authentic to Passau as the experience waiting behind every door.
